The speciality of this lake is that is a Sanctuary to birds of various species included barheaded geese and Red-necked Grebe. The Pong Dam includes the WildLife Sanctuary by the Himachal Pradesh government in the year 1986.
The Dam is situated just 12 kms away from talwara town and easily accessible by bus,car and bike but before visit do make sure that Pong Dam tourism is open, sometimes to raised water level tourism is not open for tourists for their safety. Most of the season it is reachable and open.
